‘Absolutely disgusting’ Blackpool hotel where mum claimed her baby almost froze to death

A Blackpool hotel is under fire. Online reviews state that the hotel has significant issues with cleanliness, poor management, and freezing conditions.

Garvey’s Promenade Hotel is a 46 room hotel in a prime location overlooking Blackpool seafront. The hotel has attracted much unflattering attention on TripAdvisor, with a rating of just three stars and a rank of #746 out of 902 B&Bs and Inns in Blackpool.

The ratings are based on 298 reviews, 102 of which categorized it as “terrible”. It is understood that the hotel’s owners also manage the Tres Bon Hotel and the New Valron Hotel in the seaside town.

A review was posted last month by Phoebe T, describing the hotel as “absolutely mean” and giving it one star, but claiming she would “give a minus 10 if I could”. The review said: “The place is absolutely disgusting, I’ve never seen anything like it – the smell is disgusting and the windows in the room don’t open to air it out.

“Carpets were never vacuumed and full of dust everywhere, sheets full of hair, I can’t even explain how hideous this place was.”

Another one-star review was left by Sarah N. last September, who declared, “This place has never seen a vacuum, broom, or feather duster as the most basic standard of cleaning.” She then claims there was something , which “appeared to be old on one wall” and “the bathroom pull cord was black with dirt.”

Speaking of staff, Sarah said one manager became “very aggressive and threatening” when she asked for a clean towel and left shortly after the incident.

On a more positive note, one reviewer, Michael K, left a five-star rating for the hotel, claiming his experience at the hotel was “very good” with “friendly staff.”

In February of this year, a visitor named Vicky D described her experience on TripAdvisor, saying her “baby almost froze to death” and left a one-star review. She describes the hostile greeting she received upon check-in and commented on the condition of the hotel, claiming the hotel “looked rundown and unfinished” and that “the carpets were dirty.”

What’s worse, Vicky D goes on to describe the horror experience she had when it came to entering her room. She wrote: “I’ve seen cleaner kennels. Carpet not vacuumed, hair, dirt, bits and stains and an adorable toe/fingernail greeted us.

The bedside lamp didn’t work and the radiator didn’t work, there were no other heaters and it was awful weather freezing. The windowsills were thick with dust and dirt, it looked like nobody had cleaned the room in months.”

Not only has the hotel been criticized over cleanliness issues, but Vicky D also claims that her baby was so cold at night that he “went gray” in his crib and “his lips turned purple” despite being “in a vest.” , his pajamas, a dressing gown, wrapped in a blanket, snuggled up against us and under the covers.” The reviewer states that no alternative heating was offered and saw no other option than to leave the hotel in the early hours of the morning.
