Mequon, Wisconsin-Fromm Family Foods has announced a voluntary recall of approximately 5,500 Fromm Shredded Can Entrée dog foods due to possible vitamin D excess.
Dogs who take high levels of vitamin D can experience symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss. Vitamin D, when ingested in very high amounts, can cause serious health problems, including kidney dysfunction, in dogs. Anyone whose dog exhibits any of these symptoms after consuming the recalled food should see a veterinarian.
The recalled dog food is being distributed to nearby pet stores in the United States and is packaged in 12 ounces. A can with a best-before date 08/2024.

4 star shredded beef with sauce appetizer
Dog food, 12 cans per carton, 11877, UPC 7270511876, preferably by 082024
4-star chicken with sauce as a starter
Dog food, 12 cans per carton, 11881, UPC 7270511880, preferably at 082024
4 star shredded pork on a gravy starter
Dog food, 12 cans per carton, 11879, UPC 7270511878, preferably at 082024
4-star shredded turkey on a gravy starter
Dog food, 12 cans per carton, 11883, UPC 7270511882, preferably at 082024
No other product is affected by this recall. Manufacturers have taken additional steps to avoid the repetitive mistakes that caused the recall.
