Marlo Kelly (Dare me) is in for a key role alongside Kate McKinnon and John Cameron Mitchell Joe Exotic (Working title), Peacock’s limited series based on the Wondery podcast.
Joe Exotic (wt) is about Carole Baskin (McKinnon), a big cat enthusiast, who learns that Joe “Exotic” Writer (Mitchell), an exotic friend, breeds and uses his big cats to make a profit. She sets out to shut down his company, resulting in a rapidly escalating rivalry. But Carole has a troubled past of her own and when the talons come out Joe will stop at nothing to expose her hypocrisy. The results turn out to be dangerous.
Kelly will play Jamie Murdock, Carole’s (McKinnon) daughter.
In addition to McKinnon and Mitchell, Kelly joins the previously announced Brian Van Holt as John Reinke, Nat Wolff as Travis Maldonado, Sam Keeley as John Finlay, Lex Mayson as Saff, Dean Winters as Jeff Lowe, Joel Marsh Garland as James Garretson, William Fichtner as Rick Kirkham and Kyle MacLachlan as Howard Baskin.
Etan Frankel writes and produces under his general contract with UCP, a division of the Universal Studio Group. McKinnon also co-produces with Alex Katsnelson and Wonderys Hernan Lopez, Marshall Lewy and Aaron Hart.
Australian actress Kelly starred as Beth on USA Network’s critically acclaimed drama series Dare me based on Megan Abbott’s bestselling novel. The series, co-produced by Netflix, landed on the streamer in December and quickly made it to the platform’s top 10 shows. Her screen credits also include the title role in the Australian / French co-production series Patricia Moore and Seven Networks Home and away. Kelly is represented by Echo Lake Entertainment and Sophie Jermyn Management.
