The adorable friendship between a pit bull and a cat has captured the hearts of people online when its owner shared a clip of the couple snuggling up on TikTok.

The furry duo were described as “brothers” and “best friends” by owner @samantha__.03, who posted a video of their pets named Ernest and Hemingway to her account on Wednesday.

Set the appropriate track Just the two of usby Grover Washington Jr., shows the four-legged friends at a window while the dog stretches out to play with the cat’s tail.

The Moggy’s plumage is particularly enviable, as Samantha revealed that Ernest is an “all-Russian Maine Coon polydactyl.”

The International Cats Association (TICA) explained more about the breed, saying, “Despite its size, the Maine Coon cat is good-natured, gentle, and friendly, and gets along with almost everyone.”

That’s evident in the video as Hemingway paws at his friend’s fluffy cock before lying down and sees Ernest come over to cuddle before cradling himself in his arms as the pair cuddle.

“I don’t think I could have had a better moment than this,” Samantha captioned the clip, which has amassed more than 750,000 views to watch here.

In her account, she said Hemingway was a blue-nosed pit bull, while explaining more about the animals’ touching friendship in the comments.

“They were adopted around the same time frame so they could grow up together,” she wrote.

And it seems Hemingway is no stranger to cuddling, saying, “He loves the cock, but his favorite part is the head hoops!”

She continued to gushed about her pets, saying, “Those are two little cuties, aren’t they?!”

Beth Partington52 gushed: “They cuddle!! The sweetest.”

Roamingwolf asked “How could the dog resist this amazing cat tail?”

Woodensense admitted, “I said ‘awwww’ out loud four times.”

Full body healing with Jen thought, “This is so precious.”

While CC admitted, “I cried when I saw this because it’s so beautiful to look at.”

Scores of people commented on the clip as Jennifer Richardson appeared to refer to pitbulls’ reputation, joking, “Oh my god that ‘vicious’ dog might hurt the kitty.

When Samantha replied, “Soooo vicious!! lol! They love each other.”

Pit bulls have a mixed reputation in America, as the Encyclopedia Britannica notes: “The name has historically been applied to several dog breeds — including bull terriers, American Staffordshire terriers, and Staffordshire Bull terriers — but it’s not recognized as a distinct breed by the American Kennel Club.”

However, the United Kennel Club first recognized the breed in 1898 and named it the American Pit Bull Terrier.

“The American Dog Breeders Association (ADBA), whose primary focus is promoting the American Pit Bull Terrier’s positive traits, such as their loyalty, dedication, and athleticism, also recognizes the breed.”

They cited perceptions of the dogs as aggressive, which the site apparently attributed to a resurgence of the breed used in dog fighting, as well as heavily covert attacks in the media.

“Well-publicized attacks on humans by dogs identified as pit bulls have led to the passage of laws in some jurisdictions prohibiting or restricting the keeping of these breeds.

“Some humanistic societies routinely kill pit bulls that come into their possession, deeming them unfit for adoption.

“In response to the breed’s negative reputation, numerous pit bull owners and owner organizations (such as the ADBA) routinely condemn the abuse of the breed by irresponsible owners, arguing that any dog breed is capable of similarly aggressive behavior if improperly trained,” the website continued away .

Figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) from 1979 to 1996 indicate that “pit bulls” were involved in 60 dog bite-related deaths in the United States. This was the highest number reported, the next attributed to Rottweilers, with 29 deaths.

Overall, it states: “From 1979 to 1994, dog attacks resulted in 279 human deaths in the United States.”
